About the Place
Panaderia y Pupuseria Los Cocos is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Los Angeles at 4804 S Centinela Ave. From the moment you approach the bakery, the inviting aroma of fresh coffee and warm pastries sets the stage for a truly authentic Salvadoran experience. This place blends the vibrant flavors of traditional pupusas with the comforting essence of classic panaderia treats, creating a harmonious culinary escape.
The pupusas here are the undeniable stars. Whether you choose the chicharrón con queso, vegan options, or the traditional versions, each bite reveals a delicate balance of masa and flavorful fillings. While some may notice the masa’s prominence, it acts as the perfect canvas for the rich cheese, savory pork, or expertly crafted vegan ingredients. The accompaniments—especially the tangy, not-spicy curtido—play a crucial role, elevating every bite and keeping the palate engaged.
One must not overlook the side dishes that complement this experience. The fried plantains offer a crispy sweetness that contrasts beautifully with the savory pupusas, while the casamiento provides a hearty, satisfying complement. Fans of baked goods will find the banana bread notably moist and fresh, though the popularity of breads and pastries means arriving early is key to snagging the best selections.
The service is as warm as the food, marked by friendly and helpful staff who bring a genuine sense of community to the casual, unpretentious setting. Though language barriers exist, they never hinder the inviting atmosphere or the seamless dining experience. Wait times can stretch as the kitchen prepares each order fresh, a testament to the care invested in every dish.

For anyone seeking authentic pupusas paired with fresh bakery delights and a welcoming vibe, this spot ranks high on the list. It invites you to enjoy the richness of flavors, the warmth of good service, and the comfort of home-style cooking in every visit.
“ Smelled like wonderful coffee and pastries at 10:30, and amazing like grilled cheese and corn pupusas upon picking up order at 11. I got the Vegan pupusas and they were delicious, especially the not-spicy curtido. Also tried Banana bread was moist and fresh. Looks like the sell out of most breads/pastries early. Service was 10/10 very friendly!! ”
“ It was my first pupusa but I would agree with other reviewers that it's mostly masa. Not sure if that's normal or not, but it definitely overpowers any other flavor that is inside. Good thing they give you plenty of cabbage and sauce otherwise you would get bored if this flavor very quickly. It took 25 mins to get my order. The older cashier bloke however is really, really friendly. ”
“ Great experience! Fair price and a great amount of fried plantains (which are my favorite) casamiento is also very good, however I do like the traditional one with black beans. Nonetheless the place is tasty and looking forward to come back. Food takes a while to make which I appreciate knowing that it’s fresh. I also loved the cheese on the pupusa and loved that it wasn’t greasy either. Great customer service! ”
“ This is only the second time I've had pupusas but these were the best I've had! Very casual, unpretentious setting with a very friendly staff. They don't all speak English but that wasn't a problem at all. Very fairly priced as well. And if you've over ordered like me, definitely take the leftover pupusas back home, they are great in the oven or airfryer!! Will come back for sure! Edit: I did come back and brought some friends too, and we all absolutely loved it! Such a gem! ”
“ Best pupusas!! #1 People are humble, nice and helpful. Pickled cabbage was on point. So happy we returned for breakfast. ”
